When you’re feeling down and stressed, feeling like everything is going wrong…stay off of social media. If you find yourself comparing yourself to the success of others, social media is only going to make it worse, unless you’ve taken the one piece of advice that any successful entrepreneur will share. You need to surround yourself with like minded people that bring you up and power your energy.
You need to surround yourself with like minded people that bring you up and power your energy.
When you do that and you scroll through Facebook because you’re feeling stressed and looking for a distraction you’ll be lucky enough to have a friend share the photo about and a message like this:
“This is Jim Thorpe. Look closely at the photo, you can see that he’s wearing different socks and shoes. This wasn’t a fashion statement. It was the 1912 Olympics, and Jim, an American Indian from Oklahoma, represented the U.S. in track and field. On the morning of his competitions, his shoes were stolen. Luckily, Jim ended up finding two shoes in a garbage can. That’s the pair that he’s wearing in the photo. But one of the shoes was too big, so he had to wear an extra sock. Wearing these shoes, Jim won two gold medals that day.
This is a perfect reminder that you don’t have to resign to the excuses that have held you back. So what if life hasn’t been fair? What are you going to do about it today? Whatever you woke up with this morning; stolen shoes, ill health, failed relationships, failed business, unhealthy food around… don’t let it stop you from running your race.
You can experience more in life if you’ll get over the excuses and get on with living. You can have reasons or you can have results…but you can’t have both. Put on whatever shoes you can find today, and keep going towards your goal. Don’t have a reason to back away from the gold medal you could be winning!”
Living your life as an entrepreneur is hard.
Part of what makes it hard are these three harmful entrepreneur behaviors that you’ve got to shake now:
You’ve made a plan. You’re excited and doing everything right. You’re consistent and you’re taking the advice from experts in the field. But then month after month your business strategy doesn’t work and eventually, you give up.
This is a super COMMON problem for entrepreneurs. And it happens when young entrepreneurs copy and paste what is supposed to work into their business strategy and then don’t adjust it far enough when it’s not working.

2018 gave us some really great podcasts. Some are new, some have been around, but all can make an impact for you and your business.
If you run your own business you’ve got round the clock tasks, goals, benchmarks, communications, and the list could go on. You’ve got round the clock responsibilities.
Chances are pretty dang high that this busy entrepreneur life equals stress, even for that “totally chill” person.
So today we thought we’d talk about a brain trick that helps you calm entrepreneur stress and accomplish more.
The To-Do List
A to do list is a perfect trick to get your brain to stop worrying about the tasks you have waiting to be accomplished. Writing what you need to do down makes your brain think you’ve got it done.
Now, of course, if you never actually do the task, you’ll end up stressed out again. However, writing a to do list will take that overwhelmed edge off well enough for you to get organized, prioritize, and get work done.
It’s been pretty well accepted that there are two main beliefs or mindsets about our intelligence and skills. We either believer our talents are either with us from the womb – born to play the piano, to sing, to play baseball, etc. Or we believe that our talents, our skills, can be developed through hard work and endurance.
The first is what we call a fixed mindset and the second is a growth mindset.
I’ll give you two guesses which one is the mindset that leads to success!
If you’re stuck in the fixed mindset, or your staff is, then you’ll likely give up when the going gets hard. And sweetheart, you’re a small business owner. It’s not always going to be cake and unicorn parties.
So, let’s take a look at ways you can infuse yourself and your work culture with the growth mindset and lead your business to success.
